May 22: The Rev. Beth Miller - We Rise Again?

What do you think about the idea of reincarnation? With it’s roots in ancient Eastern religions and philosophies, the idea of many lifetimes has also influenced many great Western minds. In virtually all belief systems that include reincarnation, the soul’s intention is spiritual growth and development to a higher state of being, free of all struggles, that takes it beyond the cycle of reincarnation. Interestingly enough, belief in reincarnation and in the spirit realm have a long history in both Unitarianism and Universalism prior to merger in 1961, and emerged again in the 1980s within Unitarian Universalism.

Bio:  The Reverend Beth Miller

In 2012, after twenty-two years in parish and institutional ministry, the Rev. Beth Miller semi-retired and became a "snowbird" living nine months a year in Sebastian, FL. Retirement didn’t take and she soon became part time consulting minister serving  Friendship Fellowship at Pineda and doing guest preaching and facilitation at area churches.  Since then she has served short-term fill in ministries in Arlington, VA and Baton Rouge, LA. In September of 2019, Beth joined the UU Church of Sarasota, FL as halftime contract Associate Minister from which she retired April 1, 2022.

Beth previously served as sole or senior minister for three congregations over sixteen years, directed the department of ministry and professional leadership at the UUA for five years, and worked as an organizational development consultant for the Mass Bay and Clara Barton Districts of the UUA for one year.  Beth brings a great deal of experience to all aspects of ministry and looks forward to offering occasional ministerial services where needed.

Sunday Service Volunteers Needed!

Please email office@uunaples.org if you are willing to volunteer for any of these tasks for Sunday services.  Tasks & Short descriptions:

  • Greeters: Welcome members and visitors and ask for visitor information if any.

  • Ushers: Pass out the Order of Service, Head Count, Pass the collection plate

  • Money counters: Count the plate cash

  • Sextons: Help open and close the building -- open and unlock doors and turn on the fans etc.. This task is much easier now, and is done by the staff, but it would be helpful to have help if needed and maybe sometimes for committee meetings and events outside of office hours.

  • YRE Greeters: We need an RE Greeter willing to greet the children in the education wing.  It’s a great way to meet the children and their parents.  These are wonderful ways to serve the congregation without having to make a long-term commitment.  THANK YOU!
