Aside from our Pledge Campaign, the next-largest source of financial support for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greater Naples (UUCGN) is our fundraising efforts. A major fundraiser for the benefit of the congregation is our Home-Hosted Events, typically an average of 20 special events, dinners, parties, cruises, garden tours, etc. that are hosted by members and/or friends of the congregation. The bidding takes place on two consecutive Sundays in January, and the events themselves generally cluster over the next 4 months, although some are further out into the following autumn and early winter.
We also hold several fundraisers each year to benefit an organization or organizations chosen by the Congregation under the guidance of the Social Justice Committee. Every three years a new partner is selected. The current selection process is underway and the new charity partner will be announced in December 2018.
The 2016-2018 recipients of the funds raised during our major fundraising event on April 2 are two outstanding education programs sponsored by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) of Collier County: Raising the Bar and the STEM Program. Learn more about these programs here.
In the past, these fundraisers have included jazz festivals and large cabaret-style celebrations with live and sometimes silent auctions. Stay tuned for news on the March 23, 2019 event.
In addition to providing supplemental income, UUCGN’s fundraisers serve as community building and fun outreach opportunities. Join us for a fundraiser – and have fun while supporting the congregation!
